As part of the sermon of our pastor, he told a story related to the last part of Luke 2:7, "And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn" (ESV).
There was no available room for Jesus when He was about to be born. Towards the end of the sermon, we were asked: "Do you have also a room in your heart for Jesus?"
And we could also extend it further: Do we have just a "manger-kind" of time, attention, or interest for our Savior this season?
While others gave more "rooms" for material pleasure, some were more interested on human and "sugar coated" version of the gospel that everyone is saved or reconciled to God, yet could still suffer in hell!
Why not offer a "room" for Jesus -- the true Gospel -- the God-Man, who came to grant forgiveness, repentance, faith, peace, joy, hope and every spiritual blessing to His people -- those appointed to eternal life?
Give more time on Jesus and His Word than the attractions in this world or the mere teachings or arguments of men. Be more familiar with Him as He is really pictured in the Scripture. And take your joy in Him as you seek to experience His Presence. Proclaim Him, not the ideas or beliefs of others. Make room for Jesus in your life.
