Love is Passion

I think I would some sparkle in the eyes of my reader as I put that title on the top of the page. Love is something we always wanted.

They say Love is something relative, it may mean something else for you, or for other people, or even for me. Media says love is when two people ‘feel’ something about each other (I guess this is the first thing that comes into the mind of the young people when they hear love) those were the stories shown in movies, dramas and the lives of those stars; the good-willed people say that love is in charity, that when you have ‘pity’ for those in need help them; others say that love is when you are fond that you want it very much. But I think those are just icing of the cake, beautiful but they don’t dictate the real thing. The cake is the bread, we all know that.

Throughout my entire life, the most beautiful definition of love that I’ve ever heard was that God is love (1John 4:16) very real, that there would be no better description of love than what God did, who he is, what he is. But what else can love mean for us?

I don’t have much time to write, or maybe you don’t have much time to read something about the definition of love in every perspective there is in the scriptures, besides, that requires plenty of time and study, but what I want to emphasize here is that love is something substantial. It is something that exists, based on fact, profound truth; not on sinking and irresolute emotions or feelings and mere intuitions. One thing for that would be very important to know is that Love is Passion. I think, and I do know that that statement almost embraces everything that love can mean to man. Love is when you are wholly and wholeheartedly passionate about something. We always put it in statements that, “I love _____; it is my passion that keeps me alive, gives me purpose and fulfillment.” I believe you can place anything in that blank in the sentence and mean it. Whatever you love, you are passionate about it; whatever you are passionate about, it motivates and drives you; what drives you, keeps you alive; what keeps you alive, makes you hunger for more of it; what you are hungry for, you become aggressive to pursue; what you pursue, you put everything you have to have it, even if it costs your life.

See how far passion goes? We’re not talking here about the love and passions we have for dancing, human rights, arts, and the like, though they may resemble zeal, dedication and pursuit. We’re talking here about our Love for Jesus. Our passion for Jesus Christ; Our zeal and determination to pursue him, our aspiration to be more like him, our yearning to know him more each day, our desire to do everything in our lives for his glory, and our longing to be with him someday. How much do you love Jesus Christ? If you love him, how passionate are you for Him?

Pursuit is the evidence of Love, as those love experts say. Didn’t that apply to our passion for Jesus too? When you’re passionate about something, when you desire something terribly, you would do anything to get closer to that something, to have more of it. Same is true with Jesus Christ. You can’t tell me you love Jesus Christ yet do nothing about it. You can’t say you’re passionate about Jesus yet be complacent about you present state. Love is active, passion is aggressive. When you really love Jesus Christ, you will put everything aside to make more room for him in your life. When you are truly passionate about Jesus, you will give up everything else, if it will mean you more of him. If it means being radical, then be it. If obedience costs persecution and tribulation, then who cares? If love makes you go crazy about someone, then why won’t the love for Jesus make you passionate about him to that extent? Besides, aren’t you drunk with the Holy Spirit? I think that’s more than amazing. You just have to love and be passionate about Jesus Christ, then the power, the provision, the wisdom and even the capability to do everything else depends on God. As Jentzen Franklin puts it, “Power follows passion” I believe everything else in your Christian life depends on how much you love Jesus Christ and upon how passionate you are for Him. If you love him, you won’t last a day not communicating with him, you won’t mind doing anything for him, and you would do anything to know him more and have more of him. If you are passionate about him, pain and struggles won’t bug your way to obedience, sin and failure won’t distract your attention to run to him, you will fix your eyes to him and make him your north star.

Passion and love doesn’t need your perfection, it simply needs your dedication. God wants your devotion and attention, not your strength and abilities. Never be satisfied with being in love, be passionately in love. Do not settle for “just okay” Christian life, be different, set your standards higher and be saltier and brighter than the rest.

Wearing Christian shirts, listening to Christian music, attending Christian activities, telling everyone and putting in your social sites status and blogs that you love Jesus… your fashion don’t prove your passion, your life does. How much do you desire Jesus Christ? How much do you want him, more than your personal Christian growth and ministry, more than your abilities, pride and reputation, more than everything you have, more than your life?

Isn’t it overwhelmingly amazing to know that God passionately loves you? Now, how much do you passionately love him?

Thanks (^_^)
